作为时间连词，when 可以引导时间状语从句，表示某个动作发生的时间。 例如：

• I was reading a book when he called me.
• When she arrived, we started the meeting.

作为条件连词，表示条件，意为“如果/一……就……”。

• Call me when you are ready.
• When the water boils, turn off the stove.

作为疑问词，表示“什么时候”。

• When will the train arrive?
• Do you know when he will leave?

用作关系副词

• I remember the day when we first met.
• There was a time when people didn’t have smartphones.
